Chestnut Community Events is a registered charity (No. 1141037) formed in November 2006 and constituted in April 2007 to assist children, young people, and adults in developing skills and attributes to build confidence in themselves and understanding of the world around them.
We believe that every child, young person, and adult is unique and will help them to develop their potential in an active community environment. We believe 'it's what's inside that counts' and it's our aim to help them learn in a fun and informal environment.
Some of our young people and adults become true ambassadors locally for our charity by representing us in the community with our partnerships and organisations we work at, giving talks and now creating social media items showing not only what our charity does but more importantly what it means to them to be involved as we “Grow Stronger Together”.
We provide activities for children and young people within Cumbria, particularly within the South Lakes area in nurseries, primary & secondary schools, clubs, and organisations. We can plan workshops and facilitate events so that staff and leaders can participate with the group, assisting them to build on friendship and team work. We also support a young adults’ initiative within our Community Roots project, that integrates young people some of whom are not in education, employment, or training. We support mentoring work for young people and adults to experience the working environment, assisting them to be more independent.
As we grow stronger together we are eager for volunteers to help assist us in any way they can. We are looking for trustees, ambassadors, gardeners/horticultural volunteers. We are also seeking volunteers to assist with administration, fundraising and marketing and joining a management committee. If you think you may have the right skills then please get in contact with us to find out more!
Our charity's office was affected by Storm Desmond in December 2015 and had to relocate to a new home funded by the Flood Relief Fund through Cumbria Community Foundation, thanks to the generosity of many people and businesses. Sincerely, we thank you.
We run events throughout the year in many different locations, including schools, hospitals, National Trust properties and many more. Have a look at the timeline below to see what's coming up! Note that we run fewer events in the winter months.

We are funded by schools, community groups, local grants, trusts, and the local council. We charge for activities on an hourly, half day, full day or weekly basis or we can assist you in applying for a grant. This could cut your costs by up to 50%, but would likely incur a delay of approximately 3 months to process the application. Additionally, a successful grant cannot be guaranteed.
