Community Roots Project

Our environmental events aim to work in partnership with your establishment where children and young people already meet, where you have the potential for gardening and growing fruit and vegetables within your grounds.

We can facilitate specific workshops for groups of children and young people with:

  • One off events
  • Series of workshops
  • Specific group of identified children or young people
  • A club or community group
  • Family fun events
  • Enjoying training and learning, working on community garden sites in Kendal.

For Volunteers (18+) the opportunity to:

  • Mentor young people
  • Grow your own veg
  • Gain practical skills
  • Organise events
  • Help the local community

For young people (16-24) the opportunity to:

  • Receive work experience
  • Create a portfolio of work
  • Gain practical skills
  • Find out about other training opportunities
  • Meet new people

We have created volunteering roles to support the projects in admin, gardening, and general maintenance where youth and adults have worked together as a team and individually creating areas for development. Our young people whilst working together have made friends, worked as a team, and shared stories and aspirations for the future. By learning and developing new skills the youth and adult volunteers are gaining more knowledge and new interests, and they have been an inspiration in forming an integral part of the Community Roots Project.
